Anthem Blue Cross provides special services and PPO network access for workers’ compensation cases in California. Anthem Blue Cross Life and Health is an affiliate of Anthem Blue Cross providing specialty products including dental, pharmacy, life and workers’ compensation programs.

In 1994, Anthem Blue Cross started development of a program to integrate group health and workers' compensation. Workers' Compensation Managed Care Services (WCS) is a specialty division focused on PPO access, bill review and medical management services for workers’ compensation claims. All WCS employees specialize in workers’ compensation. These services can play an important part in securing high quality health care and controlling the rising medical costs in workers' compensation. Medical costs continue to grow and represent nearly 50% of the total expenses of an industrial injury.

WCS professionals help injured workers, insurance companies and self-insured employers by providing affordable health care provider networks and managing the appropriateness of medical care. We work closely with the treating physician and employer to assist the worker through the recovery process.

WCS is unique in the marketplace because the Anthem Blue Cross network is one of the largest in the state providing quality care and providing special rates to control the medical costs of its customers. More providers mean greater savings and better control of quality medical care for injured workers.
